The strange, petty reality of divorce

"Like Neil Simon's ‘The Odd Couple’ but with an arch first hand reporter sharing her comical story and understanding her odd circumstances with the aplomb of an outsider. I'm proof that married people can enjoy this book too.” Amazon

“A book that very accurately depicts these crazy, absurd and timeless moments that accompany a separation. I recommend 100%.”

“They argue over silly things. Tomatoes in winter. Husband saying she spends too much at the gourmet grocery store. Then, our lady finds an apartment, packs up and takes the sofa cushions and mattress.”

“It’s wild to get an inside view of someone who is slighted by everything versus someone who is just trying to get away and be free. Getting out is more important than keeping score.”

"I really enjoyed this story. As someone who has gone through a divorce, and has dealt with everything these characters dealt with, I can say with certainty the author captured what it's like to be in the middle of a less than amicable divorce.

I really related to Jane throughout the entire story. I feel like she was doing her best to get through a crappy situation, and came out the other side happier and free.

John reminded me of my ex-husband. Angry, hurt, petty, and unable to let go of any control, as well as unable to take a look at himself to acknowledge that he payed a part in the breakdown of the marriage.

I found myself so happy at the end, and speaking from experience, there truly is light and happiness and freedom on the other side of the BS.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone I know who is going through, or has gone through a divorce. I would recommend it to any married couple, to show them what can happen when both partners stop working on their marriage and stop communicating and comprehending each other. People grow and change, and when our partners stop SEEING us, or we stop seeing them, this is what happens.

I loved the dry humor, and the honest and authentic voices that captured the reality of the situation beautifully. The journal entries at the end of each chapter had me chuckling to myself, as they showed where each partners mindset was at as they navigated the months until they could go their separate ways."
